About us
Science in the Peak is co-ordinated by the Scitec team, part of Derbyshire Education Business Partnership (DEBP) - the organisation that sets up and maintains links between local employers and schools.
SciTec organise a series of major events to promote careers and specific industries to primary and secondary school students and the wider community.
This event aims to raise awareness of the vast array of career and learning opportunities available in the areas of science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) and encourage young people to pursue STEM-related learning.

Why our supporters are involved in Science in the Peak
 |
John O’Callaghan, manager DEBP and its science, technology, engineering and maths team
Science in the Peak is a great, fun way for young people to find out about the variety of careers and study alternatives open to them in the areas of science, technology, engineering and maths. We are looking forward to welcoming everyone to this unique and exciting event! |
 |
Jim Hickman, assistant director (education improvement) Derbyshire County Council
Young people are our future and we need them to learn how scientific inquiry can help us to find solutions to the challenges of the 21st century. If young people understand science they start to have the capacity to make things better. Let’s give them the tools to help them find the solutions. |

Andrew Morgan, skills and communities director emda
emda’s investment in this festival will give a huge boost to the science, technology, engineering and maths – STEM - agenda. Science in the Peak is a unique opportunity for young people to get involved in science outside the classroom, fuelling their imagination, and making STEM study and careers an exciting option for their future. |

David Wilkinson, regional officer - Midlands Institute of Physics
Science in the Peak is a fantastic event to be involved in. As the Institute of Physics, we’re devoted to increasing the practice, understanding and application of physics across society as a whole, and this festival is a brilliant way of engaging and inspiring our young physicists and scientists of the future! |
